Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable safari destinations, centred around the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. The crater is home to a remarkable concentration of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and rhinos. Beyond the crater, the conservation area offers dramatic landscapes, ancient volcanic features and opportunities to experience the culture of local Maasai communities.
Ngorongoro can be visited throughout the year. The dry months from June to October generally offer favourable conditions for wildlife viewing, while January and February provide green scenery and can be combined with visits to the southern Serengeti and Ndutu during the wildebeest calving season. The wetter months bring lush landscapes and excellent photography opportunities.
