Samburu National Reserve is a spectacular wildlife destination in northern Kenya, known for its rugged landscapes, the Ewaso Ng’iro River and unique wildlife species that are rarely found elsewhere in Kenya. Visitors can see elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes and zebras, as well as special northern species such as the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. The best time to visit Samburu is generally during the dry seasons from June to October and January to February. During these months, wildlife tends to gather around the Ewaso Ng’iro River and other available water sources, making game viewing easier. The wetter months bring greener landscapes and can offer a quieter safari experience.
