Morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and transfer to Marangu Gate (1,860m) inside Kilimanjaro National Park. Complete park registration and begin your guided trek through dense montane rainforest, watching for blue monkeys and colobus monkeys in the canopy. Reach Mandara Hut (2,720m) by early afternoon.
Take a short excursion walk to nearby Maundi Crater for panoramic views across the Kenyan border and Tsavo plains. Return to the wooden cabins at Mandara Hut for a hot dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy an early breakfast before hiking up toward the heather and moorland eco-zones leading toward Horombo Hut. Take in vistas of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks framing Mount Kilimanjaro’s upper slopes.
