Day 1 – Ngorongoro Crater Big Five Safari & Return
Pick-Up from Arusha or Kilimanjaro & Crater Floor Game Drive
Begin your day with an early morning pick-up at approximately 5:30 AM from your preferred hotel, residence, or airport in Arusha, including Arusha Airport (ARK) or Arusha City, or from Kilimanjaro, including Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Moshi Town, accompanied by your private 4×4 safari driver-guide.
Drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley highlands towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon reaching the crater rim, prepare for an unforgettable descent onto the crater floor, entering one of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife landscapes.
Spend the day exploring the crater floor in search of the Big Five and other wildlife. Look for black rhinoceros, lions, elephants, Cape buffaloes, and, with favourable conditions, leopards. Around Lake Magadi and other crater wetlands, you may also encounter hippos, flamingos, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, and numerous bird species.
Enjoy a packed bush picnic lunch at a designated picnic area, with the Ngoitokitok area providing a memorable setting for a break during the safari. Continue wildlife viewing and photography across the crater floor before beginning the ascent back to the crater rim in the afternoon.
After exiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoy a scenic return drive to your preferred drop-off location or airport in Arusha or Kilimanjaro, marking the end of your day safari.
